Our commitment

  • We design and write to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA.
  • We follow our brand rules for readable language: British English, sentence case, one idea per paragraph, meaningful link text.
  • We treat accessibility as an ongoing programme, not a one‑off project.

What is already in place

Structure and navigation

  • Logical heading order from H1 downwards
  • Skip to content link on every page
  • Keyboard navigation with a visible focus state
  • Landmarks for screen readers: header, navigation, main, complementary, footer

Text and media

  • Alt text under 125 characters for informative images
  • Decorative images marked to be ignored by assistive tech
  • Captions for hosted videos, transcripts for audio on request
  • No autoplaying media with sound
  • Colour contrast meets or exceeds AA ratios

Links, buttons, and forms

  • Meaningful anchor text rather than “click here”
  • Focusable controls with clear labels and states
  • Form fields with programmatic labels, inline help, and error messages that can be read by screen readers
  • Error prevention on booking steps where feasible

Content design

  • Grade 8 reading target for hubs, guides, tours
  • Sensory detail used sparingly, never as the only cue
  • Local names use diacritics with a short gloss on first mention where needed

Responsive and motion

  • Pages work on mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • Respect for user settings such as reduced motion and prefers‑contrast where supported
  • Zoom supported without loss of content or function

Assistive technology compatibility

We test core templates on:

  • Windows 11 with NVDA on Chrome and Firefox
  • macOS with VoiceOver on Safari
  • iOS with VoiceOver on Safari
  • Android with TalkBack on Chrome

Travel access information on Tours.ba

  • Guides: access notes for steps, surfaces, railings, lift availability, pram‑friendly routes, and safety at water edges.
  • Tours: each card lists step‑free options if offered, hotel pickup notes, age guidance, and what to bring.
  • Destinations and experiences: car‑free variants and short‑transfer options are highlighted.
  • Maps and pins: where a map is used, a text list of stops appears nearby.

Operators provide access details for their own products. We verify what we can and ask operators to keep their access notes current.

Known limitations

We are working to resolve the following:

  • Some older images may lack full alt text.
  • Legacy blog posts and PDFs may not yet meet AA. We add HTML alternatives during updates.
  • Third‑party embeds such as maps, consent tools, and booking widgets may have limits outside our direct control.
  • Some interactive maps are not fully usable by keyboard. A linked list of places is always provided.

If you meet a barrier, use the contact options below. We will provide the information you need in an accessible format.

Request an accessible alternative

Email accessibility@tours.ba with:

  • The page or tour link
  • The content you need
  • Your preferred format, for example large print, plain text, or a phone call summary

We aim to respond within two working days. Time‑sensitive requests for bookings are prioritised.

How to change settings on your device

Increase text size or zoom

  • Chrome: Settings Appearance Font size
  • Safari on macOS: View Zoom In
  • iOS: Settings Accessibility Display and Text Size
  • Android: Settings → Accessibility → Display size and text

Use a screen reader

  • Windows: NVDA or Narrator
  • macOS and iOS: VoiceOver
  • Android: TalkBack

Third‑party content

Some features rely on third parties, for example operator booking systems, video hosts, and analytics that you can opt in to. We load only essential scripts by default. Optional scripts load only after consent. Where a partner’s tool creates a barrier, we will raise it with them and offer an alternative path.

Compliance status

We believe the site is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA due to the limitations described above. We review templates and core pages on a rolling cycle and update this statement when material changes are published.
