to Bosnia and Herzegovina the heart shaped land that lies in the heart of southeast Europe. It is here where eastern and western civilizations met, sometimes clashed, but more often enriched and reinforced each other throughout its long and fascinating history.
DAY 1. Sarajevo
Accommodation in the hotel upon arrival. Firs day you will have an organized city tour trough Sarajevo. Sarajevo is the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the biggest urban, cultural, economical center of B&H. It is known as the „European Jerusalem“, because of the fact that in a radius of 200 m, you can find a muslim mosque, rimocatholic Cathedral, an Ortodox church and a Jewish sinagogue. We will be happy to take you trough the city and show you some of the most important historical sites and monuments: The Library, the City fountain, Baščaršija, the crafts streets, The Cathedral, Old Jewish temple, Gazi Husref-beys mosque, hammam, library, medresa, The clock tower, The National theatre, National museum, The assasination place, The Emperors mosque etc. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.
DAY 2. Sarajevo-Konjic-Mostar
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to Konjic. Konjic is a mountainous, heavily wooded area. It is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia, dating back almost 4000 years. You will have the chance to see the old part of the city, incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, of which the lasting feature for the town apart from the many mosques is the Ottoman inspired bridge. We will take you also to a wood crafting shop, where you will be able to see the traditional bosnian designs of furniture, souvenirs, bosnian rooms and traditional wood crafting techniques.
Later on we will visit the city of Mostar, the largest and the most important city in the Herzegovina region. It’s situated on Neretva river and is the fifth largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (natively: mostari) who have guarded the Old Bridge during medieval times. The Old Bridge is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and under the protection of UNESCO. You will also have the opportunity to see the Koski Mehmed-pasha’s mosque, Tabacica mosque, the Old Bridge and the old turkish quarter. Arrival at the hotel in the evening. Overnight.
DAY 3. Mostar-Blagaj-Počitelj-Kravice waterfalls
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to Buna springs (Blagaj) – the strongest spring in Europe that takes out more then 45 000 liters per second. Buna spring is the home to the most famous dervish convict (tekke) in the Balkans. This area is also very famous for it’s delicious trout fish. After Blagaj, we will take You to Počitelj, the „stone“ city, an old pass keeper on the banks of emerald Neretva river. It is believed that the fortified town along with its attendant settlements were built by Bosnian King Stjepan Tvrtko I, in 1383. Arrival back to Mostar. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.
DAY 4. Mostar – Sarajevo – at leisure
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to Sarajevo. Arrival to Sarajevo in the afternoon and check in at the hotel. The day will be free for you to have some rest and relax from the active days before. Find some refreshment in the shade of a nice Sarajevo style cafe, have a slow walk through the Walkway to the Spring of river Bosna, or a walk towards the „Goat bridge“, a popular pik-niking and walking place, watch the climbers, ride a bike to the bridge, make a pik-nik, or play some sports on the fields. Arrival to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 5. Travnik – Jajce
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to Travnik. Travnik is a city in central B&H, famous for being the capital city of the governors of Bosnia from 1697 to 1850 and having a cultural heritage dating from that period. Trough the city tour you will be able to see the Suleimania Mosque, the Travnik Castle, Blue water, the Old town etc. After Travnik we will depart to Jajce. Jajce was first built in the 14th century and served as the capital of the independant Bosnian kingdom during its time. Eventually, in 1527, Jajce became the last Bosnian town to fall to Ottoman rule. There are several mosques and churches built in different times during different rules, making Jajce a diverse town in this aspect. You will also be able to see the beautiful Jajce waterfalls. The tour will take you to the catacombs a unique, monumental building in Europe. It is located within the medieval walls, built in the late 14th and early 15th century. There will be a possibility to have a boat ride on Pliva river for about 45 min. to an hour. We will also take you to Mlinice, the watermills on Pliva river, a breathtaking place, ideal to make some photos for memory. Free time for individual activities. Overnight in Jajce.
DAY 6. Jajce-Bihać
Breakfast. After breakfast departure to Bihać. After a short break we will have a city tour. Bihać is a city and municipality on river Una in the north-western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The area of Bihać was populated by the tribe of Iapydes as early as the 8th century B.C. The Iapydes left many remains tha testify about their presence in this area. During the 2nd century B.C. this area was populated by the Romans. It’s in this period that the river Una was given its name by a Roman soldier (lat. Una – one, unique). City served as headquarters for the partisan army of Josip Broz Tito, the seat of the first AVNOJ session in 1942 and the center of the anti-fascist resistance. During the tour you will be able to see the Captains tower, The Bihać tower, Fethija mosque, The Bihać fort etc. After sightseeing check in at the hotel in Bihać. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.
DAY 7. Bihać-Una rafting or horseback riding (optional)
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, we will take you to rafting on Una river. Una is a river in the northwestern part of Bosnia, which partly forms the western border of Bosnia with Croatia. The lenght of this beauty that belongs to the Black Sea basin is about 212 km. Every year on this river is organized the famous „Una Regatta“, as a part of the events that take place during „The Bihać summer“ festival. Una has 28 species of different fishes, most common being the trout fish, grayling fish and sprout fish, and the surrounding area is rich with herbs, around 170 different herbal plants. If you are not interested in rafting, then we can offer you a visit to the Hipodrom, a horse club. For the brave ones, we can also organize the horse-back riding. If even this is not of your interest, we can take you to one of the most beautifull natural places, with an Etno village Cardaklije, where you can try home made, eco products, honey, milk, cheese, cream cheese, beef meet, have a walk on a big ranch owned by a local familly. Arrival back to Bihac. Free time for individual activities. Overnight in the hotel.
DAY 8. Bihać – Sarajevo at leisure
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to Sarajevo. Arrival to Sarajevo in the afternoon. The day will be free for you to have some rest and relax from the active days before. DAY 9. Spring of river Bosna and Bjelasnica mountain
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast departure to the Spring of river Bosna, which you can reach having a ride in carriages through a beautiful walkway. The spring is located in the southwest of Sarajevo. It si one of the country’s top natural landmarks and is one of the most famous scenes of natural beauty in the region. After the Spring of river Bosna departure to Bjelasnica mountain. Bjelašnica is a mountain located southwest from Sarajevo bordering Igman mountain. Bjelašnica range is bordered by Raktinica river on the south and Neretva river in the west. Only 30 minutes distance from Sarajevo, Bjelašnica is a popular tourist attraction for hiking, skiing, and pik-niking place in summer. The mountain is also popular with mountain bikers and has become recently a frequent base for paragliders. Bjelašnica mountain was one of the 1984 Winter Olympics mountains and hosted the men’s alpine skiing events. Have some rest in the nature, have a walk in the fresh mountain air or a tea or coffee in one of the local coffee shops. Arrival to Sarajevo in the afternoon. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.
DAY 10. The Bijambare caves & pik-nik
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast we’re going to visit the Bijambare caves. It is a beautiful cave structure, with lost rivers, tunnels/shaper depressions, rocky massifs and lakes. On relatively small place you can find 8 caves spreading in 4 horizons, one of them being famous for a long time so called main Bijambare cave. Lenghts of the cave is 420 m, it has 4 halls with rich cave ornaments of all known creation forms. After sightseeing, you can have a pik-nik in the nature, have a slow walk, or have a coffee in the mountain house near the caves. After returning back to the hotel, free time for individual activities.
DAY 11. Sarajevo – day at leisure
Breakfast at the hotel. The rest of the day will be a free day for You to enjoy and try to discover all the secrets of Sarajevo. If you still do not know where to go or what to see, we recommend you the Sarajevo art galleries, The Gallery of Contemporary art ARS AEVI, the gallerie of the Kuršumli medresa, Galery of the Academy of Fine Arts, Galery New Temple, Galery Mak. If you are not that into art, you will have a big opportunity to go for shopping in some of our shopping centers, BBI, Alta, Importane, as well as a lot of shops on the pedestrian zone. If none of these meet your needs than you could go for a slow walk trough the city center, where you will have the opportunity to taste the „local life“, have a bosnian coffee in some of the local cafe shops, or try our local traditional food. DAY 12. Sarajevo – departure
Breakfast in the hotel. The last day of the tour will be a free day for You to enjoy and try to discover all the secrets of Sarajevo until the departure to the airport .Departure to the airport at scheduled time.
